SUMMARY:FRAMED at KRAFTWERK BERLIN
DESCRIPTION:FRAMED at KRAFTWERK BERLIN\n\n\n\n19:00 doors open \n\n\n\nShai Maestro will play a solo piano concert as a pre-release of his upcoming album “Solo: Miniatures and Tales”. The second concert will be a unique solo balafon performance by Aly Keïta. \n\n\n\n20:00Shai Maestro – solo piano Album Release Concert \n\n\n\n21:00 Aly Keïta – balofonsolo concert \n\n\n\n22:00 – 23:00Installation WE FELT A STAR DYINGby Laure Prouvost\, comissioned by LAS Art Foundation \n\n\n\nThe whirling balafon playing of Aly Keïta\, the winner of the ‚Special Instruments‘ prize of the German Jazz Award 2022\, is spectacular. The mallets in his hands seem to dance on the bars. The West African musician has achieved world fame with his mastery of the balafon\, which he has played since childhood\, and has made it into the ranks of the greats: Omar Sosa\, Joe Zawinul\, Rhoda Scott\, Paco Sery\, Pharoah Sanders\, Paolo Fresu\, L. Subramaniam\, Trilok Gurtu & Jan Garbarek\, to name just a few. Aly Keïta was born in Abidjan\, lvory Coast. His ability to place the balafon\, an instrument that is thousands of years old\, in a modern musical context has made him famous worldwide. The balafon is traditionally the instrument of the griots\, the oral Storytellers and songwriters of West Africa. Although he is rooted in tradition\, Keïta’s Afro-pop and funk rhythm section and his preference for complex jazz-orientated arrangements clearly set him apart from most balafonists. Aly comes from a famous family of musicians. His instrumental brilliance has enabled him to work with jazz and world music legends such as Trilok Gurtu\, Joe Zawinul and many others. Keita made his debut as a bandleader in 2008 with the album Akwaba lnisene\, which caused a sensation throughout Europe.lt immediately reached the top 20 of the World Music Charts Europe. ln the months following the release of the album\, Keita toured extensively throughout Europe and Africa. Keita and his ensemble performed from Maputo to Barcelona to Amsterdam. Today\, Aly Keïta lives in Berlin and connects musical worlds with the impressive virtuosity. He wanders between spectacular African rhythm\, polyphony and jazz elements\, and combines them to create a wonderful and unique sound world – two magical hands and a thousand and one strokes. \n\n\n\n\n\nFarafinkoAly Keïta\n\n\n\n\n\nGloriaShai Maestro\n\n\n\n\n\nShai Maestro is one of the most talented pianists and composers of his generation. Since his debut with his trio in 2011\, Shai has shaped a strong and unique personal identity and has portrayed an incredible musical fluidity\, making him and hisband one of the most powerful and harmonious groups in the music world today.ln Kraftwerk Shai will premiere „Solo: Miniatures and Tales“\, his first solo piano album recorded live. Album stands as the most profound expression of his musical identity thus far. Maestro dove into every piece\, allowing each note to breathe and evolve at its own pace. The result is a rich sonic palette that swings between thunderous\, percussive energy and delicate\, almost spectral reverberations. „Solo: Miniatures and Tales“ explores two distinct musical Iandscapes centered around the idea of contrast. The miniatures\, with their bright\, precise phrases\, create a sense of clarity and focus\, while the Tales embrace a raw\, introspective depth\, unfolding with patience and nuance. \n\n\n\nLaure Prouvost – WE FELT A STAR DYING – in Berlin (rawcut) YOUTUBE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFRAMED at KRAFTWERK BERLIN\n\n\n\nJazz Clubs Berlin \n\n\n\nalle Angaben ohne Gewähr
